"Sing a new song to the Lord. . ."

In recent days those of us here at Jubilate have seen the faithfulness of God in marvelous ways -  a clear direction in new projects and an overflowing from His bounty in provision for our needs.  Susan was inspired to begin writing our own "Song of Jubilate" - kind of like "Song of Deborah" (Judges 5) or "Song of Miriam" (Exodus 15).  Our's is definitely a song in progress and ultimately we hope that many on our team will contribute to the writing over time.  It is a song that will probably never have a melody, and also one that will never be finished! . . . that's one of the beautiful things about such a song.

For anyone outside of our Jubilate team, the details of our particular song are maybe not so important – the very specific ways that we have seen the hand of God.  We have, however, incorporated lots of promises from Scripture into our song.  We were thinking that our experience of writing might stimulate some of you to begin your own such "Song of ________.”  It will certainly serve as a stone of remembrance (Joshua 4:1-7) as you look back after the passing of time and see the faithfulness of God in whatever circumstance you are in right now.

Here are some of the passeges from Scripture that we have included in our "Song of Jubilate" so far:

„In your unfailing love, O Lord, you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.”  (Exodus 15:13)
"And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken."  (Isaiah 40:5)
"When the people willingly offer themselves - praise the Lord!"  (Judges 5:2)
“Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him.”    (Colossians 2:6)
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”     (Philippians 1:6)

May the Lord be glorified through your own expressions of worship as you write.  And if you would like to share with us what God inspires you to write, we would love to hear from you!

Richard
